Yvonne Strahovski talks about her role as Hannah McKay on “Dexter” season 7, working with Michael C. Hall and more for Zap2it. Read the interview after the jump.
As you begin your run on “Dexter” this week, how much can you reveal about your new character, Hannah?
I guess the one thing I can say is that it’s completely different from what most people know me from, which is “Chuck,” playing someone who’s a member of law enforcement. I’m not just a “regular girl” here, which you find out fairly quickly.
Is any certain skill that you learned for “Chuck” proving helpful here?
Not other than just the general experience of doing television for five years. That was the first big show I did here in the States, so I certainly learned a lot from it, even the most basic things about appearing on camera. I had only worked for three years in Australia prior to starting “Chuck,” so I guess I’m an old pro now! You learn something new every time.
Your new role keeps you in close proximity to Dexter himself, so how was it to work with Michael C. Hall?
He’s such a giving actor … extremely generous, a real actor’s actor. He’s so easy to work with, and it’s really nice to have that. He’s super-talented, as is everyone who works on the show, so I feel really blessed.
Did you see much of “Dexter” while you were making “Chuck”?
I watched all six seasons back to back over three weeks. I had seen bits and pieces, but I’d never seen it consecutively. I really wanted to get the history of it.
