Episode 7 of Showtime’s series“Dexter” season 7 is titled “Chemistry” and starts with Dexter laying on his kill table with Hannah. Unable to fight their intense chemistry, Dexter and Hannah ambivalently jumped into a relationship of sorts – though not before eliminating one major obstacle: true-crime author Sal Price. Read the full recap after the jump.
Approaching Hannah in a threatening way, Sal revealed that he knew about her relationship with Dexter and, should she go on the record with him about her youthful killing spree, he would not expose them. Deb and Sal continued to grow closer, bonding over drinks and their increased suspicion of Hannah McKay.
Meanwhile, LaGuerta talks to Debra about the Bay Harbor Butcher, and Deb says they may be sidetracked because they’re still trying to clear Sgt. Doakes, rather than just looking at the evidence.
Dexter breaks into Sal’s apartment and steals DNA evidence to frame him for the murder of one of his best-selling subjects. He sets in motion his plan to stop Sal, by blackmailing the author into silence by threatening to frame him for an unsolved case he’d covered years ago. Sal, meanwhile, conducted his candid interview with Hannah, who confessed to the crime he’d long suspected her of. Price realizes Dexter has trapped him, then grabs his chest and keels over dead. Deb immediately suspected Hannah and called her in for questioning.
Debra went to Hannah’s ex-husband’s sister, and asked for permission to exhume his body and check it for poisoning. The sister told her that Hannah said she was pregnant, and miscarried right after the death. Hannah goes into questioning, and Deb tells her about the evidence she has on her in the death of her mentor, and in one of Wayne Randall’s murders. While Hannah has immunity in the Randall killing, she could get caught in the other charges.
Since Quinn stole the blood evidence against Isaak Sirko and the Koshka Brotherhood contaminated the crime scene with sewage, they are forced to drop the charges against Isaac. With the police tailing him 24/7 at Deb’s orders, Isaak Sirko surprises Dexter at a restaurant. Instead of backing down, Dexter taunts the mob boss with the gruesome details of Viktor’s murder — and promises he’ll do the same to him.
The show ends with Deb telling Dexter that Hannah killed Price, and she’s going to walk. She can’t let it happen, and she wants Dexter to enact justice.
